Quotation on Drama by Ty Howard, Motivational Speaker & Best-Selling Author

Monday, March 18th, 2013

Receiving another person’s invitation to take part in drama is like receiving junk mail at home or inside your personal email account; you see it and know it has little to know value to you, so you immediately discard it from your life, and move on. ~ Ty Howard

The Benefits of Reading Self-Help Books by Ty Howard, Motivational Speaker & Author [Article]

The Benefits of Reading Self-Help Books

Copyright © 2012 by Ty Howard.  All rights reserved.

“Write to be understood, speak to be heard,
and read to grow.”

~ Lawrence Clark Powell

Reading books is considered to be one of the most intellectually beneficial activities. People who indulge in the habit of reading books are usually considered to be among the literate and learned class of society. Different people like to read different books which suit their personalities, preferences and aspirations. Some like to read about spirituality, some about politics, some about business, some about romance, some about parenting, some about fiction, and some like to take a ride into the historical past. Despite the diversity in the reading habits of people, there are many avid book readers who love to read books on the subject of
“self-help,” too.

There are a multitude of books on self-help and most of them are among the best-selling books of all time which speaks to the popularity of this genre among book readers. The popularity of self-help books is not a fad. There is a perfectly justified rationale behind this popularity, which is that self-help books can and have transformed the lives, or at least some aspects of the lives, of millions of people around the globe.

There are several benefits of reading self-help books. The first and foremost benefit of reading self-help books is the experience puts the reader on a path to where they can read, practice the strategies learned, and make improvements in their lives without having to ask others for help. Thus, if we read, learn and decide to create our own life plan and carefully do the necessary things that can make us better, we can accomplish our goals and improve our lives significantly.

Reading self-help books can also build a higher sense of confidence in a person – over time – that can help them to get out of almost any challenging situation without resorting to the help of others. Another benefit of self-help books is that one develops the mentally tough attitude of relying on oneself, and develops the skills of addressing and untying the knots of day-to-day life.

There are a plethora of self-books on almost every conceivable aspect of life. One of the best self-help books of all time is The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen R. Covey. This book has virtually transformed the lives and attitudes of millions. The book highlights the traits and habits that are found in highly effective people and invites others to learn and master them. This is one book on self-help which you absolutely have to read.

Another famous book on the self-help bookshelf is Awaken the Giant Within by Anthony Robbins. All of us have dreams but few have the fortitude of taking the required steps to achieve those goals and this is where this book comes in handy. It forces the reader to take that all-important step towards realizing one’s goals.

Many of us find that we are lost and do not actually know what the purpose of our life is. The famous book Man’s Search for Meaning by Viktor E. Frankl tackles this question and clarifies one’s mind about how to have a meaningful life.

Human beings are social animals, and one of the most important skills required by a person is to be successful at being social. The critically acclaimed self-help classic book How to Win Friends & Influence People by Dale Carnegie addresses the problems people usually face in the social process and helps the reader to get a better grasp on the secrets of influencing others and expanding one’s social circle.

In a nutshell, the vast benefits of reading self-help books cannot all be summarized in a short article like this one. I will say, however, reading and benefiting from self-help books is all about learning, applying and taking continuous swift action. I encourage you to make an effort to get into the habit of reading self-help books in order to experience the true transforming and life enriching benefits of these books. Hopefully, as a result of you doing so, you too can reach your greatest and most fulfilling potential.

How to Stay F.O.C.U.S.E.D. While in College by Ty Howard, Motivational Speaker and Author – [ Article ]

Tuesday, June 19th, 2012

How to Stay F.O.C.U.S.E.D. While in College

Copyright © 2012 by Ty Howard.  All rights reserved.

The demands of college are vigorous and can be nearly impossible to deal with without continued focus. It is often a challenging task as there are plenty of distractions to stray you off course, but in any successful endeavor, staying focused is the key.

Fear of falling behind can serve as a motivating factor when trying to maintain focus. Procrastination only leads to more pressure and stress to get those assignments done. The further behind you fall, the more difficult it can be to catch up. Assignments will only compound atop one another, increasing your workload to undesirable levels. This will certainly be reflected in your quality of work. You will be spread too thin and the lack of time will prevent you from putting forth
one hundred percent effort, thus negatively affecting your grades and overall GPA.

Being organized is a great way for you to focus and maximize your productivity. A structured schedule per class, complete with a list of assignments and requirements along with due dates, provides you a blueprint for prioritizing your schoolwork. It will give you the chance to complete your assignments in a timely fashion as well as the added benefit of allowing you time to recharge. Since college can be challenging, it is healthy and necessary to set aside some time to unwind. The brain functions best when it is not overloaded with stress so being well rested lets you take on future tasks with a better focus.

Committing time each day to your studies is a surefire way to stay focused since it allows you to remain productive on a daily basis. Continuous work and concentration will prevent cram sessions from occurring around the time of a deadline or an exam date. In addition, it will give you the opportunity to present your best quality of work because you will be able to find ways to improve upon assignments and thoroughly study for exams. Your ultimate goal is to learn and retain information, not memorize it just to pass an exam and you must have sufficient study habits to do so.

Unwaveringly block out all time-wasting distractions. In college you gain instant independence. This can become a curse or a blessing. If in your independence you allow time-wasting distractions to seep in and drown out your priorities, you will lose focus in college. If you on the other hand, empower your independence to block out all time-wasting distractions, like partying too much, spending a lot of time on social media, and neglecting your studies for other hindering distractions—you will later find yourself enjoying all the rewards and benefits that college has to offer due to your unwavering and committed focus.

You cannot reach a goal if you do not even see yourself taking the necessary steps to get there. Visualizing yourself as a success makes the idea of it real and attainable. If you envision studying hard for a good grade on your midterm or researching and writing a great term paper, it will not seem so foreign when it comes time to actually do it. It is easy to make a pledge to your studies but seeing yourself focused enough to follow-through on that commitment helps to make those visions come to fruition.

Enroll and participate in study groups to help keep yourself committed and accountable to your studies. Positive and committed study groups are like finding gold while in college. One, you make positive friends who are equally committed to getting a good education, and two, you have more than one mind working in your best interest to help you understand and think through a particular class subject.

Dare to be driven to succeed beyond your own expectation due to the fact that you held yourself accountable to staying focused while in college. Focus, drive and accountability go hand-and-hand when it comes to continuous college student success, and graduating on time with the degree you truly want to hold in your hands come graduation day.

No matter how far you’ve come in college, there is always another class and goal to accomplish right on the horizon. There’s always a new and challenging way to call on your commitment to focus, learn, excel, and perform.

To succeed in college is to grow—in strength, in wisdom, in experience, and accomplishment. To grow is to live—in the most fulfilling and significant way.

You’ve come a long way, so by all means stay focused and committed to getting a good education and graduating from college on time. What’s so great about college and life is that you can always make your best better through focus, commitment, learning, peak performance, stretching, and continuous success.

Positive Growth Benefits You Most by Ty Howard, Renowned Motivational Speaker – [ Article ]

Monday, May 7th, 2012

Positive Growth Benefits You Most

Copyright © 2012 by Ty Howard.  All rights reserved.

“Without continual growth and progress, such words as improvement, achievement, and success have no meaning.”
~ Benjamin Franklin

If you’ve already positively grown in some way today, keep growing. Build on that momentum and you will stay green and growing. If you’ve encountered nothing but stress, frustration and disappointment today, keep growing. Sometimes in order to bring yourself to the point of positive growth, you will have to think and push through periods of challenge and uncertainty. Through it all, positive growth benefits you most.

A good example of positively growing through a period of challenge and uncertainty is the Aesop’s Fable on “The Crow and the Pitcher.”

“A crow, about to die of thirst, flew with joy to a pitcher, which he saw at a distance. But when he came up to it, he found the water so low that with all his stooping and straining he was unable to reach it. So he tried to break the pitcher, then to overturn it, but his strength was not sufficient to do either. At last, seeing some small pebbles at hand, he dropped a great many of them, one by one, into the pitcher, and so raised the water to the brim and quenched his thirst.”

I hope Aesop’s Fable was as refreshing and satisfying a read for you, as it was for me. Why? It leads back to my ultimate point that positive growth benefits you most. It doesn’t matter if you’re having a good day or a challenging day, when your commitment to life is to continuously and positively grow—you can and you will.

It was Eric Butterworth who said it best when he said, “Don’t go through life, grow through life.”

Can you identify – right now – where you’ve positively grown today?

Did you start your day off in a much better mood and mode than you have in days past?

Did you focus and learn from a mistake you made today or yesterday?

Did you choose to exercise, eat right and drink the number of glasses of water you promised yourself that you would months ago?

Did you forgive someone who may have hurt or wronged you in any way?

Did you tell a family member or close friend that hasn’t heard you say those three special words in a long time that you love them aloud?

Time will pass and keep on going no matter what you do. You can settle on being a do nothing person or being an ever positively growing person. Your best strategy is to keep on going and growing, too. Benefit from and make use of every moment.

I encourage people all the time by saying, Do not be afraid of growing slowly; be afraid of not growing at all while you watch countless hours pass you by.

When your day is great, keep growing! When your day is exhausting from challenge, uncertainty or disappointment, keep growing! In every unique and pivotal moment, commit to keeping yourself growing forward. And as you grow, the positive possibilities will grow ever more significant in your world because—Positive Growth Benefits You Most.

Ty Howard’s Growth & Prosperity Tips for the Year 2012 – [ Enriching Life Coaching Tips From America's Untie the Knots(R) Consultant & Coach ]

Friday, January 13th, 2012

Ty Howard’s Growth & Prosperity T.I.P.S.

for the Year 2012

Copyright © 2011 by Ty Howard
All rights reserved.

The YEAR of Reciprocity and Elevation

These T.I.P.S. (Techniques, Ideas, Principles and Strategies) are for everyone—especially those who want to elevate themselves to a better and higher level in the Year 2012 than they reached in the Year 2011. Internalize, apply and practice the concepts daily, and you will elevate your life, relationships, health, finances, knowledge, family, business, and career to a better and higher level than you had before.

The T.I.P.S. listed below are not based on any intended ranked order. They are shared for you to learn and master the healthy habits of Reciprocity and Elevation in the Year 2012, so you too can soar daily to new levels of success in all areas of your life.

From my heart to yours, here are 14 Growth & Prosperity T.I.P.S. for the Year 2012. Let’s ALL move significantly forward through Reciprocity and Elevation:
results!

1) Release Those You Have Tolerated in Years Past. This is the year you say “No More!” No more will I accept or entertain those that I have tolerated. You need and want people in your life where the two of you elevate one another—not tolerate one another. Look at the relationships in your life right now (personal, family, business, career, school, and community) and identify the individuals that you’ve been tolerating in years past. Release them! You cannot and will not be able to create and live a healthy and vibrant life if you’re life is being eroded by negative and toxic people day after day. Quality, vibrant and healthy living starts and grows through Reciprocity and Elevation.

2) Evaluate and Elevate the Current State of Your Healthy Relationships. In order for your healthy relationships to stay vibrant and growing, you must make sure that all parties involved are giving just as much as they are receiving. Yes, that includes you too! The fastest way a positive and healthy relationship can turn bad or toxic is when one person begins to neglect it or becomes ‘just a taker’ in the relationship. Make it your personal commitment to evaluate and elevate all of the healthy relationships within your life. Call your people before they call you; return calls promptly; send birthday cards; send get well cards; update your people on how your life is going; share pictures; return emails; hangout when possible; and make yourself available to listen when someone needs you most.

3) Consistently Communicate Honestly and Transparently. We live in a world today that is demanding and screaming for more consistent honest and transparent communication. For Reciprocity and Elevation to sustain itself within a healthy and vibrant relationship there has to be consistent honest and transparent communication. This year make it a new healthy habit to consistently let people know how you honestly and transparently feel. Try your best to do this in a good-nature and non-hurtful way, if you can. When you consistently communicate honestly and transparently, you will increase the level of trust, respect and value you bring to all of your relationships.

4) Ignite Your Passion to Give More Than You Receive From Others. Passion is—as Passion Does! Do not allow yourself to be the person who stands back waiting and wanting others to give to you first, before you start giving; or to be the person who chooses to go ‘tit for tat’ when it comes to being a carefree giver. Ignite the passion within yourself to give more than you receive without worry or hesitation. Think positive. Think healthy. Think Reciprocity and Elevation. Margaret Cho (American comedienne, fashion designer, actress, author, and singer-songwriter) says, “If we have the opportunity to be generous with our hearts, ourselves, we have no idea of the depth and range of love’s reach.”

5) Participate in and Have More Fun in Life. It’s a fact, life is short. We cannot pre-determine our fate or how long we will live. Too many people today are over-worked, over-stressed, failing in relationships, and our “fun meters” have been turned-off or turned down real low. Participating in and having fun in life is not only for kids. It’s for you, too! This year, make it your business to stop at least twice each week to add more participation and fun to your life. A participatory and fun life becomes a vibrant, positive and healthy life! It also becomes a life that lasts longer, stays healthy, and attracts other vibrant, positive and healthy people to do fun things with.
