Making the Right Choices Over Many Distracting Voices – for Teens by Ty Howard, Motivational Speaker & Author – [ Article ]

Thursday, July 19th, 2012

Making the Right Choices

Over Many Distracting Voices

( for Teens )

Copyright © 2012 by Ty Howard.  All rights reserved.

Getting ahead in life as a teenager and doing what you really dream of in this world can be tough when you’re put in a position daily to make the right choices over many distracting voices. People will try to convince you to break what you believe in, go their way to what they feel you need and want, go against the values your parent(s) have taught you, or stop you from doing something because they do not like it or do not want to see you achieving the success and positive recognition you’re worked hard for. Your needs and aspirations are not in their best interest, only they are. These people want things to stay as they like would like it to remain, regardless of whether or not it harms you or derails you from achieving your dreams. Every young person, like you, out there affected by these types of people, needs to remember that you can stand up for yourself, make right and healthy choices, and set and keep your life going in the direction you want it to go. Just stand strong, look to the future, and ignore the negativity and distractions that toxic and non-caring people try to throw your way.

It was Eric Allenbaugh who said, “Every choice moves us closer to or farther away from something. Where are your choices taking your life? What do your behaviors demonstrate that you are saying yes or no to in life?”

Have confidence in yourself. Do not believe in the words of those whose only motivation is to bring you down. You know your own abilities and can improve and grow on them. Do what you know is right, what you need to do to excel, and do it with confidence so that no person, no matter what they say, can hold you back or drag you down. With focus, determination and confidence to move continuously forward in life, you can and will make the right choices over many distracting voices daily.

Stay focused and on track no matter how difficult it may be. Say no when a distracting person tries to get you to do something you do not want to do. Keep going forward with your productive work, and keep your mind connected to your dreams and goals. The “here and now” or “I’m going to miss out on lots of fun” may seem interesting and exciting; yet, getting caught up with it can ruin your future if you get sucked into making wrong choices because of the many distracting voices. Every distraction, whether it is from your own mind or another person, will only last a short while. Try to make the most of every minute so that you can make the right healthy choices you need to create the success and future you truly want.

Embrace and keep in mind the profound words of Cherie Carter-Scott, “Remember, there are no mistakes, only lessons. Love yourself, trust your choices, and everything is possible.”

When you have the downtime, enjoy it. Life cannot be all work with no fun or play, or everything will become stressful and boring. Once you are finished with the work you have to do, do something you truly enjoy and find fun in it while still keeping your mind and body ready for what you must do and accomplish next. Admire the beauty in life, take time to do something exciting, and let yourself relax whenever you feel stressed or overwhelmed. When your brain is sharp and refreshed, you will be able to focus more on enjoying life and getting the work that needs to be done, done.

Always remember to stay confident and focused, no matter what troubles, uncertainties and setbacks you may face. Keep your head up and eyes on what needs to be done and your committed efforts will move you closer to where you want to be. Create and build positive support groups to aide you along your journey in developing your healthy character, emotions, and ongoing life plans. Become and be the teen, the young adult, then adult who finds yourself smiling and celebrating life to the fullest because you had the courage to develop and sustain a healthy character, positive attitude, strong value system, and the tenacity to make the right choices over many distracting voices—now and throughout life.

How to Develop a Healthy Image and Reputation – for Teens by Ty Howard, Motivational Speaker & Author – [ Article ]

How to Develop a Healthy

Image & Reputation

That Shows You Respect Yourself

Copyright © 2012 by Ty Howard.  All rights reserved.

“Respect your efforts, respect yourself. Self-respect leads to self-discipline. When you have both firmly under your belt, that’s real power.” ~ Clint Eastwood

An important aspect of being a teenager is to carve out a respectable image for yourself, one you can proudly carry into your adulthood. It is even more important to chisel out an image which shows and reflects you respect yourself, and others. Your teenage years are the perfect period for developing such an image or reputation. It is therefore very important to pay close attention towards developing and chiseling such an image, among your peers, during this period.

The all-important question is how to do it successfully? In this article I will highlight some tips for sending out a strong signal that shows you respect yourself, and others. These tips can help you to create a positive image and a highly sought-after reputation that will bring quality friends and opportunities for continuous success your way.

There are many traits in your personality which could reflect whether you respect yourself or not. These traits are manifested in one’s physical as well as intellectual tendencies. One of the most important things, to carve an image which reflects that you respect yourself, is to actually respect yourself in the first place. If you do not respect yourself, you will develop a personality and reputation that automatically sends out a strong signal to others that you do not have a healthy character or values system guiding and driving your life. It also can communicate to others that you take yourself too seriously, and have little to no respect for others.

Secondly, it is of utmost importance to have confidence. If you do not display confidence, others will perceive you as being a weak individual and will seldom respect you. You can only be confident if you are comfortable with yourself. And if you do not respect yourself, you can never be truly comfortable with yourself. Thus, you must continuously develop confidence in a positive and healthy way in order to carve out a personality and reputation that reflects you respect yourself, and others.

Thirdly, in order to have an image which reflects that you respect yourself, it is important to dress sharply and be clean and tidy. If you carry yourself around in unappealing or distasteful clothes and keep poor hygiene habits, others will perceive you as someone who is lazy and possibly suffering from self-esteem or emotional issues. Thus always try to dress nicely and appropriately with good hygiene habits to instill a positive perspective of your personality in the minds of others.

Displaying a high level of self-esteem is also equal to showing you have a high level of self-respect. If you show and promote a high level of self-esteem, it sends out the vibe that you are comfortable in your own skin and influences others to treat you with respect.

Being sociable is also of extreme importance to displaying self-respect. Human beings are social beings after all. A person who likes to hang out with others and shows an outgoing nature reflects that he or she is confident enough to face and communicate with others easily, and is not afraid of meeting other people in person. Such behavior reflects that the individual has a certain self-respect which fosters the required confidence to be sociable.

Another very important aspect that shows you have self-respect is to take care of your physical state. If you pamper and properly groom your body, for example, by working out or getting your hair done, you show others that you respect yourself and take good care of what you have. This influences others to think of you as an individual with self-respect.

Lastly, remember that you need to respect others to gain respect from them. Thus never forget that it is very important to respect others and their property as well. Moreover, always be honest in your dealings with others. A person, who does not respect others or cheats others, actually destroys his/her own social standing and this reflects that he/she does not respect themselves.

In the end, it should be emphasized and be a top priority that in your teen years, you develop an image and reputation that will empower and positively put you on the path to achieving quality relationships, happiness, and lifelong success.

If You Truly Want to Improve Employee Morale – M.E.E.T. by Ty Howard (Article)

Saturday, July 17th, 2010

If You Truly Want to Improve Employee Morale —
M.E.E.T.

Copyright © 2010 by Ty Howard. All rights reserved.

Ever lose sleep wondering what to do to improve employee morale?

Fact – at one time or another most managers find themselves lying in bed with their minds stressfully moving due to the difficult challenge of improving employee morale. After all, keeping employees motivated so they will continuously produce meaningful work is one of the most difficult jobs there is. Yet, as a leader it’s THE most important function you perform.

Many companies today say that they want to improve employee morale because they know it’s a key driver for their desired success. Yet, at the same time, they do not want to invest a lot of time or money into this area. Managers are told, “Get them motivated the best way you know how, and do it with the least amount of time and money too.” Or they are told, “Let them know, they should be happy to still have a job when so many others are unemployed today.”

Your organization or department can have big plans and big goals, but if your employees do not have high levels of harmony and motivation, you will never achieve optimal success. In this article, you are going to receive four powerful and proven strategies on how to improve employee morale all the time. Are you ready to M.E.E.T. and apply the strategies? Here they are…

1) Meet.

If you’re a manager who truly wants to improve morale and harmony within your department or team, Meet. Yes, Meet! Schedule a meeting of your team, and set the tone by letting everyone in attendance know your ultimate goals and objectives for this meeting.

It doesn’t matter if the morale is very low, in the middle or high, you should always Meet. You meet so you can get, learn and check the pulse of your team’s morale. Ask your team openly what’s good about work and life within the company or department? What’s not so good about work and life within the company or department?

2) Empower.

Let your team members know that this meeting is a meeting where everyone is to civilly and honestly share their feedback and suggestions on how “WE” can improve morale with the resources and relationships we currently have. How can “WE” create a more healthy, motivated and harmonious work environment for our team moving forward?

3) Encourage.

Encourage your team members to hold themselves accountable for their actions, interactions, words, service, and healthy attitudes moving forward. Encourage your team to embrace the new way of doing business moving forward; a new way that will be designed, agreed upon and put into practice by the team. Let them know ultimately “An Encouraged YOU Becomes An Empowered YOU!”

4) Transition.

Transition from the old foolish, smoke-and-mirrors way for improving employee morale and harmony; to a more genuine and honest way that will position and have team members – both as a group and as individuals – achieving optimal success with your team time-and-time again.

The old foolish, smoke-and-mirrors way involved a manager or company throwing promotional goodies, gimmicks and fluff company events at a low employee morale situation in an attempt to immediately boost morale. The more genuine and honest way is for a manager or company to take the time and spend the necessary money to Meet often effectively, so that everyone is involved in the contributions and buy-in of the new way of conducting team business. That’s how you improve employee morale and harmony TODAY!

If you truly want to improve employee morale, remember that promotional goodies, gimmicks, and fluff company events are not the answer. In order to reach and maintain high levels of morale – all the time – you are going to be required to Meet, Empower, Encourage, and Transition – all the time. It’s no better time than TODAY for both you and your employees to make a higher level of employee morale and harmony a reality, together.
